How the story goes

One small trouble. Three turns.

A peek for grown-ups, so you know where the story is headed before you turn the first page.

  1. A small trouble

The meadow drum game is very loud, and Carson is about to win when he hears a small sound: ting.

  2. A brave choice

“My turn can wait,” he says. He follows the sound past the oak roots and finds Cydney stuck under a toppled basket.

  3. A happy turn

Carson lifts the basket slowly and carefully. Back at the game, nobody minds the waiting turn.

And the moral of the story

“Listen for the small sounds. Someone may need you.”

Say it together at the last page. It’s short on purpose.
