How the story goes

One small trouble. Three turns.

A peek for grown-ups, so you know where the story is headed before you turn the first page.

  1. A small trouble

Pax and Val carry berry jars home on the hottest afternoon. Val cheers for the glittering ridge shortcut.

  2. A brave choice

Pax checks their water, the warming jars, and Val’s tired foot. The ridge has no shade, so he picks the longer tree path.

  3. A happy turn

Cool moss, a spring, a shady rest. They get home later, with cool berries and water to spare.

And the moral of the story

“Stop, think, then choose.”

Say it together at the last page. It’s short on purpose.

For grown-ups · After the last page

Talk about it.

  1. 1What did Pax check before he chose?
  2. 2What if they had taken the ridge?
  3. 3What could you check before you pick a way to go?
