How the story goes

One small trouble. Three turns.

A peek for grown-ups, so you know where the story is headed before you turn the first page.

  1. A small trouble

Ice covers the short creek path, and Pax and Lee ask Weston which way to go.

  2. A brave choice

Weston sets three stones in the snow: What do we know? What don’t we know? Which way is safe, even if we guess wrong?

  3. A happy turn

They choose the sheltered pine path and leave a sign for others. At home, three wet stones warm by the fire.

And the moral of the story

“Ask good questions before you choose.”

Say it together at the last page. It’s short on purpose.

For grown-ups · After the last page

Talk about it.

  1. 1What would you ask if you came to an icy path?
  2. 2Why do you think they left a sign for others?
  3. 3What could you ask yourself before a hard choice?
