How the story goes

One small trouble. Three turns.

A peek for grown-ups, so you know where the story is headed before you turn the first page.

  1. A small trouble

Ali wants a tower to the clouds. She stacks fast, and wibble, wobble, plop, it falls into a pile.

  2. A brave choice

Austin asks which stone she can place well next. Ali picks a broad, flat stone and turns it until it settles.

  3. A happy turn

She builds carefully for three mornings. The tower never reaches the clouds, but from the top Ali sees every path home.

And the moral of the story

“Big dreams start with one small step.”

Say it together at the last page. It’s short on purpose.

For grown-ups · After the last page

Talk about it.

  1. 1What did Ali do differently after her tower fell?
  2. 2What if Ali had stopped after the plop?
  3. 3What big thing would you like to build, and where would you start?
